CIARA HOSSACK -STATEMENT
Strength is a divisive force forming lines and surfaces. The stronger opens up, while the weaker, over-powered, shrinks. Obstacles are overcome, welling with outflow and suctioning inflow. Creating individual shapes, the form is conceived. Containing movement, the boundaries flow. The passages are sensitive, responding to the slightest change. Rhythmic waves are created, making their own course. From interplay of currents creating their own boundaries, a balance is created.

My intent of this piece is to create work that provokes thought about the meditative qualities of water. When considering this piece, I was thinking about different states of water, and how each state can create a different feeling within oneself. With so much concern about water conservation one forgets about the healing energy water carries and the true benefits of the substance that comprises 70% of us.

These pieces are created with influence from the Western Canadian Columbia glaciers.   This summer when I visited them I felt the true sense of being home. I was surprised to feel so attached to snow and ice and the powerful energy from the glacier that flows through your body. I hope that through this piece I can evoke the same feelings within the viewer.
