MARCIA HARRIS

Inspired by the changing face of our landscape due to the effects of a shifting climate, Marcia Harris is compelled by the beauty within the natural lifecycle. Finding the redeeming qualities in the portrayal of a much more fragile landscape Harris presents thought-provoking paintings, which challenge our preconceived notions of what is beautiful.

The tradition of landscape painting is often representative of the pristine and picturesque. Harris' interests lie in the evolution of the modern landscape, which co-exists with mankind. It is through her materials, skill and aesthetic choices that a new definition of magnificent beauty found in landscape painting emerges.

Born in Gaspe, Quebec. In 2004 Harris graduated with distinction from the Okanogan University College, Kelowna, B.C. from the fine arts Program (with a major in Painting and a minor in drawing, screen-printing and photography). Now based in Calgary, Harris has shown extensively across Western Canada. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections across Canada, the United States, England and the Grand Cayman Islands.
